Privacy-first.
Consent at every step.

CtxSpeakerDB is built around explicit consent. No speaker is ever added without opting in. Data can be withdrawn at any time. Every data access by an event organiser is logged for GDPR audit purposes.

01
Submit via CtxCfP
When a speaker submits a talk via CtxCfP, they are offered a checkbox: "Share my profile in CtxSpeakerDB." Checking this creates a speaker profile linked to their submission.
02
Visibility Control
Speakers choose their own visibility level: Public (visible to all), Organisers Only (visible only to verified NOG programme committees), or Private (stored but not discoverable).
03
Discovery & Outreach
Event organisers with verified CtxEvent access can search by topic expertise, RIR region, talk history, and Yolandi ratings. Every profile view is logged. Direct outreach goes through the CtxSpeakerDB messaging layer.

the NOG community needed

🏆
Speaker Lifecycle Tracking
Every speaker moves through lifecycle stages based on talk count, ratings, and community recognition: Newcomer → Regular → Authority → Emeritus. Programme committees can filter by stage to balance their agenda between fresh voices and established experts.
Yolandi Ratings Integration
CtxEvent's Yolandi 5-dimension speaker rating system (Content Quality, Clarity, Delivery, Technical Depth, Overall Impact) feeds directly into CtxSpeakerDB. Every speaker profile shows their aggregated ratings across all rated events.
🌎
RIR Region & Geography Filtering
Search by RIPE NCC, ARIN, APNIC, LACNIC, or AFRINIC region. Find speakers from underrepresented regions to build a diverse programme. Filter by country, organisation type, or ASN affiliation.
🔗
ASN & PeeringDB Context
Speaker profiles are enriched with their network's ASN data from PeeringDB and RIPEstat — prefix counts, IXP presence, peering policy. Programme committees immediately see whether a speaker represents a major network or a regional operator.
🔒
GDPR / DSGVO Compliant
Full GDPR compliance with explicit opt-in, granular visibility controls, right-to-erasure, data portability export, and a complete audit log of every data access. Speakers can update or withdraw their consent at any time via magic-link self-service.
🤖
Self-Registration & Claim Flow
Speakers who have given talks at CtxEvent events can self-register and claim their historical talk profile. A magic-link claim flow lets speakers verify ownership of their speaker record without creating a platform account.

Connected to the
full Context X stack

CtxSpeakerDB is not a standalone silo. It is the speaker data backbone that connects CtxCfP (submissions), CtxEvent (talks & ratings), and CtxTopic (expertise tagging) into a unified, GDPR-compliant speaker intelligence layer.

CtxCfP
Talk submissions feed speaker profiles. Opt-in at submission time. Ratings from Yolandi flow back after the event.
CtxEvent
Accepted speaker talks are recorded in CtxSpeakerDB. Post-event ratings update the speaker's composite score and lifecycle stage.
CtxTopic
Speaker expertise tags are derived from their talk topic history. CtxTopic gap alerts can surface which expert speakers could fill content gaps in upcoming CfPs.
CtxMeet
Speakers who are also network operators appear in CtxMeet with their peering context. One identity across the full NOG participant lifecycle.
